The Subaru Impreza has been good to me! Co-driving with Petter Solberg in the Subaru Impreza World Rally Car on the World Rally Championship has allowed me to experience the cutting edge of the Impreza through most of its evolutions. As a rally car, it took what was great about the old-faithful Subaru Legacy, and replaced most of it's weaknesses, resulting in an outstanding overall package which helped Petter and I to our Championship victory in 2003.
The big difference with the Impreza, however, is that unlike almost all of its rivals on the world stage, the road going version is a serious machine. If I look at the main contenders (and our competitors) in the current WRC line-up, the Rally versions bear little resemblance to their road-going counterparts. The road Scooby is a four-wheel-drive, turbo charged, two litre performance car – just like it’s WRC big brother.
